ManoFUCKINGwar

June 30, 2006

When your good host Abe told me that he was filling a blog with vintage metal videos he’d found on the You Tube I was super psyched! I’ve spent many an hour looking for similar stuff there. Then when Abe asked me if I’d like to help him troll You Tube for the good shit Iwas even more super psyched! Growing up in the UK I had no access to satellite or cable TV so apart from the odd dodgy video copied by a friend I saw virtually no metal videos at all, well I need worry about that no longer thanks to the magic of the internet and the dedication of Mr Lincoln Jnr.

So here’s my first find and what a scorcher it is. Prime Manowar! Maybe not vintage Manowar to the connoisseur but without a doubt one of my favourite Manowar songs from one of my favourite Manowar albums. Trust me if you’re getting ready to hit the town all you need to listen to are the first four songs from Fighting The World. Anyhoos back to the video, the song Blow Your Speakers is a scathing critique of MTV and it’s reluctance to play REAL metal videos, it savages MTV with a masterstroke of making an MTV friendly music video. Genius on so many levels…

Last year me and a friend made the trek to Germany to see Manowar but that’s another story for another time…

Death To False Metal Videos!

Hail and kill, etc, etc…

Iron Maiden: Phantom of the Opera

June 30, 2006

Once again Paul D’ianno killin it live with Maiden. I was looking at a clip of Bruce singing Iron Maiden but he was butchering it so I went with Paul again.

Scorpions: Still Loving You

June 30, 2006

Ladies get your Lighters! In the midst of all this punishing testosterone fueled metal mayhem (with liberal Freedom Rock breaks) we’ve been remiss in providing power ballads for our lady listeners to rectify that we have a selection from Germany’s own Scorpions, Still Loving You

Black Sabbath: Die Young

June 30, 2006

On the other end of the Sabbath spectrum, after Ozzy’s departure, who should replace him? My boy RJD… Here’s a lipsynced version of Die Young that features Dio’s faux magical gesticulating and lots of dramatic poses.

Black Sabbath: Behind the wall of Sleep

June 30, 2006

There’s alot of Sabbath on you tube and I didn’t want to just post Paranoid so here’s the first of hopefully a lot of Sabbath vids here.

James Gang: Walk Away

June 30, 2006

OK mebbe this is the last in my Freedom Rock binge but this song is fucking rad. Sure it’s got a few strikes agin it but damn if this doesn’t smoke I dunno what does. It rises to the occasion in spite of Joe Walsh’s later tenure in the Eagles. Booo Eagles, Yay Joe Walsh tho…

Van Halen: Runnin’ with the Devil

June 30, 2006

I try to avoid lip synch videos unless their unintentionally hilarious but I couldnt find any good live Halen videos. Most of them are with Gary Cherone or Dance the night away… Not a great selection so here’s Runnin with the Devil.

Judas Priest: Painkiller

June 30, 2006

I remember when all the punk bands went metal, DRI, CoC and whatnot. Though I was less than impressed with their output I always thought “Man, Halford would KILL in a Speedmetal band”. A few years later Painkiller came out and my prayers were answered. Unfortunately Fight was another story.

Rick Derringer: Rock n Roll Hoochie Koo

June 29, 2006

Ok I’m veering into Freedom Rock territory here but I’ll be damned if this isnt a shit kickin song. Besides that Albino Keyboard Maestro, Edgar Winter, is an added bonus. Marvel at just how whacked they are on some amphetimine or another. Go Fast Rick Derringer GO FAST!
